Among the traditions of Cabras the Run of the barefooted ones is of great interest. The equestrian tournament of the Sartiglia which has been taking place since the beginning of 1600 is still held every last Sunday and Tuesday of carnival in Oristano. The riders who participate at the tournament try to pierce with a sword a silver star hung to a ribbon. The riders' leader (“su compoidori”), who starts the run, closes with the "su stoccu" test and the blessing of the crowd with a bunch of violets (“sa pippia de maju”). According to the number of stars caught some auspices for the year in progress were drawn. Subsequently the riders exhibit standing on a pair of running horses showing their courage and ability."
